Flashback Friday: 5 Great Kentucky Derbies

With the 2015 Breeders’ Cup in the history books, talk has already turned to the 2016 Kentucky Derby. Let’s kick off the Derby season by watching the replays of five great Kentucky Derbies!


Genuine Risk became only the second filly to win the Kentucky Derby when she scored a memorable win in the 1980 renewal.


Alysheba was the victory in 1987 despite clipping heels and nearly falling in the homestretch.


The finish was close, but Winning Colors held on in 1988 to become the third and most recent filly to win the Kentucky Derby.


Silver Charm, showing off his famous grit and determination, won by a head in 1997.


Barbaro was one of the most impressive Derby winners in recent memory, winning by 6 1/2 lengths in 2006.
