Arkansas Derby (gr. I) runner-up Suddenbreakingnews signaled his readiness for the Kentucky Derby when he breezed five furlongs in a quick :59.60 on April 29th at Churchill Downs.

With jockey Chris Landeros in the saddle, the Donnie Von Hemel-trained colt galloped out six furlongs in 1:13 flat.

“I was happy with it and Chris was happy with it,” Von Hemel was quoted as saying in a Churchill Downs press release. “Chris said when he asked him, he stretched out. I was probably looking for something a bit slower, but not significantly. We just have to keep him healthy and happy now. And, make sure he stays in this frame of mind.”
