Rachel’s Valentina, the daughter of 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra that broke her maiden impressively on August 2nd, returned to the work tab earlier this morning at Saratoga.

Trained by Todd Pletcher, Rachel’s Valentina breezed a half-mile in a moderate :49.59, the 47th-fastest of 74 morning workouts at that distance. The two-year-old filly is expected to make her next start in the Spinaway Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga on September 5th.

Pletcher also sent out several other prominent horses to record morning workouts, including Coach Inge (5 furlongs in 1:00.60), Competitive Edge (4 furlongs in :49.49), Curalina (4 furlongs in :48.66), Daredevil (4 furlongs in :49.22), Madefromlucky (4 furlongs in 49.49), Protonico (5 furlongs in 1:00.75), Race Day (5 furlongs in 1:00.75), Red Rifle (4 furlongs in 49.92), and Stopchargingmaria (4 furlongs in :50.20).
