Rachel’s Valentina Entered in First Race

The wait is over! Rachel’s Valentina, the second foal out of 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, is scheduled to make her debut on August 2nd in the second race at Saraoga!

The two-year-old daughter of Bernardini drew post position three in a six-furlong maiden special weight. Owned by Stonestreet Stables and trained by Todd Pletcher, the bay filly enters the race off a long string of impressive workouts, which culminated with a half-mile breeze from the starting gate on July 26th. John Velazquez, among leading riders of the Saratoga meet thus far, has the mount.

Rachel’s Valentina will be the first foal out of Rachel Alexandra to run in a race, as Rachel Alexandra’s first foal–a three-year-old son of Curlin named Jess’s Dream–has been in training since last year but has yet to make his debut.
