Rachel’s Valentina, the second foal out of 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, completed her preparations for a much-anticipated run in the October 31st Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) when she breezed five furlongs in 1:00 4/5 at Keeneland.

Working in company with her Todd Plecther-trained stablemate Ramsack, Rachel’s Valentina had little trouble leaving her workmate behind, getting the first three furlongs in :37 1/5 before finishing powerfully with a quarter-mile in :23 3/5. She then galloped-out another furlong in :12 2/5 for six furlongs in 1:13 1/5 and continued on through seven furlongs in 1:28 1/5.

Rachel’s Valentina was one of many horses that Pletcher sent out for morning workouts at Keeneland, and he was very pleased with their training.

“I feel really, really good about the way the horses are training,” Pletcher was quoted as saying in the Keeneland Barn Notes for October 23rd. “Over the last two days, we’ve seen the kind of works you’d like to see coming into big races: Horses finishing well, galloping out strongly, cooling out quickly, staying in the feed tub – all those little signs that you’re looking for. Right now I couldn’t be more pleased with all of them.”
