According to the Santa Anita Stable Notes for January 3rd, the highly-promising two-year-old Mor Spirit will likely run next in the February 6th Robert B. Lewis Stakes (gr. III) at Santa Anita.

Trained by Bob Baffert, Mor Spirit score an impressive win in the Los Alamitos Futurity (gr. I) on December 19th to stamp himself as among the early favorites for the Kentucky Derby. The Robert B. Lewis, an 8.5-furlong race that offers a total of 17 Kentucky Derby qualification points to the top four finishers, is among the most notable Derby preps at Santa Anita, having been won in recent years by I’ll Have Another, Pioneerof the Nile, and Dortmund.

On January 3rd, Mor Spirit returned to the work tab for the first time since the Los Alamitos Futurity, going six furlongs in 1:13 flat. In addition to Mor Spirit, Baffert is also considering Los Alamitos Futurity runner-up Toews On Ice for a start in the Robert B. Lewis. Toews On Ice breezed a four furlongs in :48.80 this morning.
