Flashback Friday: Zenyatta Wins Her Third Vanity Handicap

On June 13th, 2010, the legendary Zenyatta won the Vanity Handicap (gr. I) at Hollywood Park for the third consecutive year, setting a record for the most wins in the prestigious race for fillies and mares. Carrying 129 pounds, and conceding from eight to 17 pounds to her five rivals, Zenyatta lagged in last as usual for the first six furlongs of the race, then put in a powerful rally in the homestretch to win by a half-length over the talented St. Trinians. The victory marked Zenyatta’s 17th straight win and established a record for the most consecutive victories in major North American races.
