On the eve of the $1,000,000 Belmont Oaks (gr. I) at Belmont Park, let’s take a moment to recall the stunning victory by Lady Eli in the 2015 edition of the ten-furlong turf race. With Irad Ortiz, Jr. in the saddle, the Chad Brown-trained filly settled near the back of the field early on, then unleashed an explosive rally to take command in the homestretch and win by 2 3/4 lengths in the fast time of 1:59.27 seconds. What a performance!
