Flashback Friday: Giacomo Wins the Kentucky Derby

Ten years ago, the late-running Giacomo pulled off one of the greatest upsets in racing history by rallying to win the 2005 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) by a half-length over fellow longshot Closing Argument. Trained by John Shirreffs and owned by Jerry and Ann Moss, Giacomo ridden to victory by Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith, who was securing his first-ever win in the “Run for the Roses.”
