Tampa Bay Derby (gr. II) winner and Kentucky Derby contender Destin arrived at Churchill Downs late in the day on April 25th and galloped over the track for the first time on the morning of April 26th.

Trained by Todd Pletcher, the son of Giant’s Causeway went at a modest pace while equipped with blinkers, which he wears during his races. Exercise rider Ovel Merida was in the saddle.

On April 23rd, Destin breezed five furlongs at Palm Beach Downs (click here for details), but due to forecasts for rain in Louisville, it is uncertain what day Destin will post his final pre-Kentucky Derby workout.

“That is all up in the air,” Pletcher was quoted as saying in a Churchill Downs press release. “We could work Thursday, Friday or Saturday.”
