Cozmic One Ready for Debut on Friday

The wait is over! Cozmic One, the first foal out of 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta, is scheduled to make the first start of his racing career this Friday at Santa Anita Park.

Trained by John Shirreffs, who conditioned the colt’s legendary dam, Cozmic One has posted eleven workouts this year in preparation for his debut, most recently breezing a half-mile in :50.00 on April 12th. Jockey Victor Espinoza, best known as the jockey of 2014 Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome, will be aboard Cozmic One.

The race is a one-mile maiden special weight for three-year-olds, all of which will carry 121 pounds. Other notable starters include Moe Candy and D’ Church, who enter off of narrow defeats in similar races at Santa Anita.

Cozmic One’s pedigree can be viewed here.
