Cozmic One Entered to Race at Belmont

Cozmic One, the first foal out of the legendary 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta, is scheduled to make the second start of his career on July 8th at Belmont Park.

Trained by John Shirreffs and owned by Jerry and Ann Moss–the same team that campaigned Zenyatta–Cozmic One will face eight rivals in Wednesday’s race, which is an 8.5-furlong maiden special weight for three-year-olds and older. After finishing last of six in his debut at Santa Anita on April 17th, Cozmic One was shipped with Shirreffs’ stable to Belmont Park in New York, where the colt has turned in an impressive series of workouts culminating with a pair of bullet five-furlong breezes on June 25th and July 2nd. Cozmic One has drawn post position eight and will be ridden by Rajiv Maragh.

Other promising entries in the race include Abdaar, a Chad Brown-trained son of Hard Spun that was beaten just a neck in an 8.5-furlong maiden race last time out; and Todd Pletcher’s Indian Trail, a well-bred son of Indian Charlie that rallied to finish fourth in his debut sprinting seven furlongs at Belmont.
