American Pharoah Posts Final Pre-Haskell Workout

Triple Crown winner American Pharoah completed his preparations for the August 2nd Haskell Invitational (gr. I) when he breezed a half-mile at Del Mar this morning.

According to Del Mar officials, American Pharoah started off with fractions of :12 3/5, :25 1/5, and :37 flat before completing the half-mile in a solid :48 4/5. He then galloped out strongly through five furlongs in 1:01 flat and six furlongs in 1:14 2/5.

The work was slightly slower than American Pharoah’s recent efforts, but coming just five days before the Haskell–and five days after American Pharoah blazed six furlongs in 1:11 flat at Del Mar–a slower workout was expected.
