Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner American Pharoah has drawn position one in the $1.5 million Preakness Stakes (gr. I), which will be held at Pimlico Racecourse on May 16th.

The Bob Baffert-trained son of Pioneerof the Nile will be ridden once again by jockey Victor Espinoza, who has guided the colt to five consecutive graded stakes victories.

American Pharoah will face seven rivals in the Preakness, including Kentucky Derby 2-3 finishers Firing Line–who drew post eight–and Dortmund, who drew post two. Dortmund, who won his first six starts prior to the Derby, is also trained by Bob Baffert and has been made the second choice on the morning line at odds of 7-2.
