2016 Breeders’ Cup Mile Post Positions

The amazing mare Tepin, who is 6-for-7 this year with wins in the Queen Anne Stakes (Eng-I) and Woodbine Mile (gr. I)) on her record, will start from post eight when she seeks to defend her title in the $2,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. I) on November 5th at Santa Anita.

Last year, Tepin won the Mile with relative ease, but she could be in for a stiffer test this year and she ships to California and faces a top-notch field of challengers that includes Limato, winner of the Prix de la Foret (Fr-I) and July Cup (Eng-I) this year, as well as Alice Springs, a three-year-old filly trained by Aidan O’Brien that has won three Group 1 races this year, including the Sun Chariot Stakes (Eng-I) on October 1st.

The complete field for the Breeders’ Cup Mile is as follows:

1 What a View, Tyler Baze
2 Alice Springs, Ryan Moore
3 Spectre, Javier Castellano
4 Miss Temple City, Edgar Prado
5 Tourist, Joel Rosario
6 Photo Call, Kent Desormeaux
7 Best Connection, James Doyle
8 Tepin, Julien Leparoux
9 Ironicus, Jose Ortiz
10 Limato, Harry Bentley
11 Ring Weekend, John Velazquez
12 Hit It a Bomb, Seamie Heffernan
13 Midnight Storm, Rafael Bejarano
14 Cougar Mountain, Donnacha O’Brien
